Storm At Midnight -- released August 28, 2008

The main character, Erin, is venturing on a new vocation. She has just purchased and is renovating a romantic and historic inn, which she will open as a bed and breakfast, with the help of her ruggedly handsome assistant, Darien. They become immediate friends and work closely together. The attraction between them grows and their friendship turns into love.

After one grueling day of work, the week before the inn is due to open, a violent storm catches them by surprise and sends Erin into Darien's strong and waiting arms. Passion takes over.

Darien’s eyes were on me, following me as I slowly crossed the room. 'Don’t you think we should get out of these wet clothes?' he asked coyly. We were attracted to each other and openly acknowledged the fact. I felt comfortable with him and enjoyed the flirting and teasing.

'Well, I do declare, Mr. Erikson. I do believe you are undressing me with your eyes sir.' 'How rude of me.' Darien came close to me and curled a strand of my wet hair around his finger. He looked at me hungrily and swallowed hard. It satisfied me to think I had such an effect on him. Another tremendous crack of thunder startled me and sent me right into Darien’s strong muscular arms. Then the electricity went out.

'I hate thunder storms!'

'I rather enjoy them, especially if they scare you enough to send you into my arms.'

'Do you have any candles?''

Darien slowly released me and lit the large candle on the mantle. Just then, another horrific bolt of lightning tore through the sky followed by yet another deafening crack of reverberating thunder. Darien instinctively put his arms around me again. The shutters were banging loudly against the house and the wind could be heard roaring through the trees.

'Do you have a weather radio Darien?'

'Yes, in the kitchen in the top drawer of the hutch. I’ll get it. I have to take the candle to see though. Do you want to come with me?'

'Yes.'

Together we slowly made our way to the kitchen. Darien put the lit candle on the kitchen table and then opened the hutch drawer. He found and turned on the weather radio. We listened to the robot like voice as it told us that a tropical depression was causing severe thunderstorms, torrential rain and the possibility of tornadoes in our area. This was a large depression and was going to stick around for hours, at least, the worst of it hitting our area at about midnight.

'It looks like you’ll have to stay here with me for the night.'

'Oh, I’m soaked and have nothing to put on.'

'Don’t worry about that. You can wear one of my shirts. You’d look great in anything.'

Darien came up to stand close behind me, and as I turned around, he pulled me to him and kissed me hungrily. His lips tasted of the wine from the Sangria. He lingered, slowly working his way from my lips to my neck and he whispered seductively in my ear, 'I want you Erin, now. I’ve been waiting for weeks.' Darien slowly unbuttoned my wet blouse as I watched him. I let my blouse slip from my shoulders and onto the floor. I had a burning desire for him and my heart was beating wildly with a demanding intensity. My need and desire had to be satisfied or I was sure I would go crazy.
